College Info

Surf Cup provides all college coaches with a booklet of player rosters for all teams in recruitable age groups. This booklet is an invaluable scouting and recruiting tool.

Players: make sure your team manager has your SAT scores and GPA figures for your team’s submittal for this booklet.

College Coaches: make sure you register with Surf Cup to ensure you can receive this booklet as we will not give it out with proper credentials.

Teams: college coaches will have what they need at our tournament so you don’t need to bring all those printed brochures.

Surf Cup has compiled a helpful guide for players and teams preparing for college recruiting.

COACHES

Surf Cup’s new and exciting tool for college recruiting includes on-line Player Profiles and connection to college coaches. Players who post a profile on-line will be able to note their interest in your school in the system. An e-mail will notify you of that player’s interest and you may browse that player’s or any player’s profile on-line. You will also be able to print schedules of individual players or even a composite schedule of players in which you have interest in scouting at the Surf Cup tournament.

Melina Lopez – Bringing Soccer to Girls in Tanzania [Video Interview]

SurfCup.com recently chatted with Melina “Mimi” Lopez, former Surf Soccer Player and current Stanford University student about her trip to Tanzania in the summer of 2011. Mimi spent her time in the small village of Manyara where she started a girls soccer program to try and encourage good health through sport. What she discovered was how teaching girls soccer can be an empowering effort that resonates beyond the pitch. Surf Cup is proud to have assisted Mimi in her efforts there with a donation of soccer wear and soccer balls.

Gaby Beas: A 20+ Year Surf Cup Veteran

Gaby Beas was in eighth grade when her family began working on the tournament and she has watched the tournament grow and evolve over her 20+ years associated with the tournament.

We sat down with Gaby on Jan. 5, 2012 to discuss her family and their history with the Cup. Gaby spent many years running the “ice crew” at the tournament. Her extroverted personality was a great fit as she worked with all of the booth vendors and the first aid tent making sure everyone not only had their ice supplies, but also a smile on their face.
