The San Diego Surf Cup tournaments are making a dramatic push into the online community. Starting in the summer of 2011 Surf Cup organizers promise a fresh new look to the website and a major push into utilizing social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, to reach out to attendees and fans of the tournament with news, deals from sponsors and contest and promotions.
Director of Marketing, David S. Dawson states, “It’s an opportunity for us to make the tournament a more complete experience for our attendees and for our sponsors. The improved use of social media will allow us to quickly spread news and important information about the tournament to our base. It will also allow us to give more visibility to our sponsors. Through creative marketing strategies in conjunction with our sponsorship partners we’ll be able to generate a lot more connection between them and our players and their families and fans.
The launch of the new SurfCup.com website is the first step in our new focus on the net. We want to bring the Surf Cup experience beyond the field and beyond the event itself. It’s an exciting time and we are really looking forward to some exciting programs coming out of this.”
